Case 11-1. Valsalva Retinopathy
A 38-year-old man with a recent episode of bronchitis presented to the emergency room after he noticed floaters and blurred vision in his left eye following a coughing episode. On examination, his visual acuity in this eye was 20/40, Indirect ophthalmoscopy (A) revealed a large, elevated subhyaloid hemorrhage in the inferior macula, mild peripapillary vitreous hemorrhage, and multiple blot hemorrhages around the optic nerve and mid periphery.
