Case 3-6 continued

Clinical Summary

Clinical examination oft he left eye (C) revealed only mild pigment mottling in the macula. The visual acuity in this eye was 20/30.

Optical Coherence Tomography

An OCT image (D) obtained through the left macula illustrated a loss of the normal fovea! contour associated with vitreomacular traction and a perifoveal detachment of the posterior hyaloid membrane with fovea! adhesion. This configuration suggested a developing Stage 1 macular hole and an increased risk of progression to a full-thickness macular hole in this eve.
