Prognosis and predictive factors

Patients with NHL of the oral cavity and oropharynx are treated by radiotherapy, chemotherapy or a combination of the two. Some studies have shown that adjuvant chemotherapy is associated with a better clinical outcome compared to radiotherapy alone {832,1009}. The five-year overall survival rate for localized disease ranges from 50% to more than 80% {146,832,1009,1614,2505}. High clinical stage, high histologic grade (large cell lymphoma), and T-cell or NK/T cell phe-notype are poor prognostic indicators {146,1009,2250,2340,2809}.
