There has been interest in the psychosocial results of epilepsy surgery since the 1950s, when the pre-operative assessment of such patients indicated that a high proportion of them suffered social, behavioral and personality disorders - over 70% in Taylor's material and 15-50% in Jensen's review of world literature in 1975.
