Aneurysmal SAH has an annual incidence of 10-20 per 100,000 , increasing consistently with age until the sixth decade, with the peak incidence at 55-60 years. There are marked variations in the incidence of SAH worldwide, ranging from 1.1 to 92.3 per 100,000 person years. The incidence is lowest in the Middle East and highest in Japan, Australia and Scandinavia, especially Finland, where the incidence is as much as three times that of the rest of the world.
