The descriptions of procedure that follow will seem overdetailed to many, and of course, as with all procedural skills, different adept practitioners come to use quite individual personal techniques, including the apparent ability to perform what is described with knitting needles and gardening tools while discussing the next experiment! However, we aim below at enabling a novice to all biological micromanipulation techniques to become skilled at the procedures with little personal tuition. They are not extreme, so for the great majority of younger (or even not so young) biologists, this will take remarkably little time.
