In this chapter, we present specific examples of the use of nonlinear regression analysis to resolve signals in multicomponent analyses. We first discuss resolution of chromatographic peaks with single-channel detection, including examples from high-pressure liquid chromatography and highperformance size-exclusion chromatography. Following this, we discuss powerful and information-rich multichannel methods characteristic of chromatography coupled with detection by mass, infrared or UV-VIS detection. Also included is a section on multicomponent time-resolved fluorescence, which is representative of any time resolved spectroscopic method. Although this chapter could contain examples of many more techniques, we wish to stress the generality of the approach that can be applied to other similar types of methods.
