VEO is a well-recognized entity in the spectrum of elbow injuries in competitive baseball pitchers. Other athletes involved in throwing or in sports requiring similar motions may be predisposed as well. History, physical examination, and radiographs help the surgeon to make the diagnosis. Before treating VEO through arthroscopic surgery, the surgeon should diligently evaluate the patient for coexistent shoulder or other elbow abnormalities. A supervised physical therapy program and arthro-scopic surgical decompression are the mainstays of treatment. In the absence of other shoulder or elbow abnormalities, the athlete's likelihood of return to his or her premorbid level of competition is high.
