The follow-through phase begins at maximum shoulder internal rotation and ends when the pitcher attains a balanced fielding position (Fig. 2.1J,K). Motion of the larger body parts, such as the trunk and lower extremities, helps to dissipate energy in the throwing arm during this phase.1 Forces and torques at the elbow during the follow-through are less than the high levels attained during arm deceleration (Figs. 2.2 and 2.4).
