1. On receipt of the Hybriwix™ Herpes (HSV) Antiviral Susceptibility Test Kit, carefully remove the aluminum foil cover from all cell culture dishes, place the plastic lids on the dishes, and incubate at 35-37°C in a humidified atmosphere of 5% C02 for 48 hr or until the cell monolayers are confluent. The sterile replacement medium should be stored at 2-8°C and all other reagents and kit accessories should be stored at room temperature. The radioactive probe should be stored in the original container in a specially designated area of the laboratory in accordance with federal and state regulations. The shelf-life of the kit is 2 wks.
2. The acyclovir and foscarnet stock solutions should be stored in single-use aliquots of 1.5 ml at -70°C no longer than 1 yr. The antiviral agents should be used immediately after thawing. Repeated freezing and thawing or storage under conditions other than those recommended should be avoided.
3. EMEM with L-glutamine and FBS should be stored at 4°C no longer than 1 mo.
4. Expiration dates should be indicated on the labels of all media and reagents. The expiration date established by the manufacturer should be observed.
