Removal of blood, iris, and pupillary membranes, injured lens, even IOL if deemed necessary; freeing the angle, etc. If the pupil is narrow, adrenalin drops can be instilled directly or iris retractors can be used (see Chap. 2.9). The time the eye is open should be minimized to reduce the ECH risk; the iris diaphragm must not be reconstructed at this point to allow unhindered view of the posterior segment
