o a 'Tri' and 'Tetra' refer to the repeat type.
b Physical mapping data were retrieved from Human Genome Browser (http://www.genome.ucsc.edu/cgi-bin/hgGateway) and genetic localizations were obtained from the Marshfield database (http://www.marshfieldclinic.org/). c Expected heterozygosity was calculated from Nei and Roychoudhury (1974). d Definitions can be found in Table 7.1.
1 bp differences between alleles. Consequently, typing of such markers essentially requires gene scanner equipment and advanced carefulness.
Table 7.2 also contains information on the power of forensic analysis using the respective markers. Several of the population genetic parameters of forensic interest are shown for each STR listed, namely the expected heterozygosity (Nei and Roychoudhury, 1974), the MEC in trio and duo cases and the power of discrimination. The data shown here refer to a population sample of central Europe (Germany).
