The cognitive-behavioural therapy (CBT) approach to psychosis is a relatively recent development and focuses directly on the core psychotic symptoms of hallucinations and delusions. These treatments form part of the 'family' of psychosocial approaches to psychosis—for example, intervention with families (1) to promote medication compliance^,) or to prevent relapse,(3) each of which frequently uses CBT techniques. In this chapter, however, we focus on the application of CBT for delusional beliefs and other psychotic phenomena, and review evidence for its efficacy.
