Salvage therapy

• >50% of patients relapsing from primary radiotherapy of early stage HL may be cured by ABVD chemotherapy.

• Durable FFP and prolonged survival are not generally achieved by conventional chemotherapy for patients relapsing after initial chemotherapy.

• High-dose chemotherapy (BEAM or CBV) with autologous peripheral blood stem cell transplantation (SCT) has become the standard salvage approach for most patients relapsing after chemotherapy, producing high complete response rates (up to 80%), durable complete remissions in 40-65% and low morbidity and mortality in selected patients.
