Investigations and diagnosis

• FBC: generally moderate leucocytosis (WBC rarely >20 x 109/L); Hb and platelets usually normal.

• Blood film: typically reveals large numbers of large lymphoid cells with characteristic 'cerebriform' folded nucleus.

• Immunophenotyping: CD3+, CD4+, CD7-, CD8-, CD25- T cells.

• Cytogenetics: no typical pattern.
