Meningioma

ICD-O:9530/0

Among the rarest tumours of the nasopharynx are ex-tracranial meningiomas [162]. In a series of 30 extracra-nial meningiomas, 3 were located in the nasopharynx [188]. There is only a single case report of a primary tonsillar ectopic meningioma [107]. Extracranial meningiomas show the same histological subtypes, differentiation and prognosis as intracranial meningiomas, but the syn-cytial (meningothelial) subtype predominates. For me-ningiomas at other sites in the head and neck area, see Chaps. 2, 8 and 10.
