The role of diagnostic imaging in the evaluation of unexplained hip pain has been expanded recently by advances in computed tomography (CT) and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI)1-3 and the efforts of several investigators toward improving detection of labral pathology.4-17 Of particular interest to the arthroscopist, MR arthrography has proven accurate in the detection of injuries of the acetabular labrum4-16 and can also demonstrate chondral damage, loose bodies, and abnormalities of the ligamen-tum teres.17 This chapter is tailored to the arthro-scopist and includes a brief review of imaging modalities used in the evaluation of adult hip pain followed by a discussion and illustration of the imaging features of hip disorders.
