A KIR haplotype can contain from 8 to 14 genes in different combinations and gene orders. For example a haplotype may have a 2DL2 or 2DL3 gene between 2DS2 and 2DL5B genes, or the order of 2DS1 and 2DS4 can be 2DS1-2DS4 or 2DS4-2DS1.
