Most antiparasitic drugs probably interfere with biosynthetic pathways of protozoan parasites or the neuromuscular function of worms. Unfortunately, compared with antibacterial, antifun-gal, and antiviral drugs, little research and development goes into these drugs, because most parasitic diseases are concentrated in the poorer areas of the world where people simply cannot afford to spend money on expensive medications.
