Radiograph viewers

A distinct area should be designated for storing and viewing radiographic films. At least one multidisplay viewer is needed in each multibed ward. Mechanized carousel viewers will facilitate viewing of serial films. A separate radiology room to site the carousel, to store and develop films, and to park portable machines may be needed in a large ICU. However, location of films away from the bed area is a disadvantage. Consideration could be given to installation of (future) digital technology to retrieve radiographs from the radiology department on bedside computer screens.
