• Meningitis should be treated with cefotaxime or ceftriaxone.
• Ceftazidime or piptazobactam are appropriate for treatment of ventilator-associated pneumonia more than 2 days after intubation.
• Teicoplanin is less likely to cause nephrotoxicity than vancomycin when used in combination with aminoglycosides.
• Imipenem and meropenem should not be used in combination with other b-lactams.
• Clindamycin is the drug of choice in aspiration pneumonia.
