Conservative treatment, including bed rest, magnesium sulfate, and antihypertensive medication, may be considered occasionally to allow prolongation of pregnancy when the syndrome occurs early. However, this may be of little benefit for the fetus since growth retardation is often present and will not be greatly modified by a few additional days of gestation.
