Fever can occur with streptokinase, but is rarely a major clinical problem and can be treated symptomatically. Occasionally, corticosteroids may be indicated. Hypotension
Hyotension may occur with any of the fibrinolytic agents and can be of concern in view of the adverse effects of hypoperfusion in the context in which the agent is usually being administered. Hypotension is most common with streptokinase, and slowing the infusion is usually all that is necessary. Transient hypotension is the most common adverse event and is managed by increasing venous return, volume infusion, and a brief reduction of streptokinase infusion.
